In response to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and the subsequent U.S. State Department warning to avoid all travel to China, the Globus family of brands and Avalon Waterways has instituted a travel policy relating to travel to and through China to help ensure the health and safety of our guests.
The Globus family of brands are proactively suspending the operation of China itineraries – and those vacations that include stops in China – through April 30, 2020 on Globus, Cosmos and Monograms vacations. Our guest services team has contacted guests affected by these cancellations in order to adjust their travel plans. As an added precaution for the health and safety of all of our guests, anyone who has traveled from/visited or transited through China, including Macau, or traveled from/visited Hong Kong, within the 21 days prior to the start of their vacation will not be allowed to travel on any Avalon Waterways vacation.
Additionally, some governments have implemented wider restrictions that limit the arrival of travelers who have traveled from /visited or transited through countries beyond those currently within the Globus family of brands policy above. If you have recently traveled within Asia, we recommend that you check the current travel policy of your final destination.
We continue to monitor the situation closely to determine if additional modifications and updates are needed in accordance with Canada and international travel advisements and policies.

Mother Nature and Unforeseen Events.
When it comes to showing you the world, our mission is to provide you with an exceptional and engaging river cruise experience. Occasionally, Mother Nature has other ideas and may present us with unexpected high or low water conditions. While we cannot predict water levels, we can assure you that all of us at Avalon Waterways—on board, on shore, and behind the scenes—are dedicated to providing the best possible vacation experience—no matter what Mother Nature throws our way.
Our seasoned global team works proactively to manage and communicate any necessary itinerary changes with you. We are always ready with thoughtfully planned alternatives and modifications to minimize delay or disruption—which may include changes in embarkation and/or disembarkation locations, utilizing other Avalon Suite Ships available in the area, providing alternative sightseeing, or offering hotel accommodations. Every modification we make is with your comfort and convenience in mind.
And while we’ll always do our best to anticipate and plan ahead, there can be a rare occasion when river conditions require us to update plans close-in to departure, or even make adjustments during the cruise. Even in those situations, our goal is to provide a complete vacation experience and rely on our experience to help you navigate around any affected areas.
In any case we deem that weather or river conditions stand in the way of a true Avalon cruise experience, we’ll offer alternatives that will ensure you’ll ultimately experience an amazing cruise, even if it means moving to a new date.
Planning and booking your cruise should be exciting, not stressful. We want you to focus on your dream cruise, not lie awake worried about potential “what if’s” of travel. Avalon gets that, which is why we offer the ability to cancel for any reason at all, up to the day of departure, included when you purchase our Travel Protection.
Make sure to ask about it at the time of booking. And replace worry with anticipation.
